iMovie Basics

This video tutorial was created by request and demonstrates the basic processes for recording a talking-head piece to camera.  It uses QuickTime for the initial capture of the video, and then iMovie for the editing and export.

Apologies for the black spots, despite using Screenflow dozens of times over the years to produce tutorials I managed to stuff up the timeline for the first time ever.  If there’s sufficient demand for a better version I’m happy to re-record it.  Just leave a comment if that’s of interest.

    • Yes, I have heard the new version of FCP has gone over like a lead balloon. In fact I know a few people who have completely abandoned it for Adobe Premier. In this case the clip was recorded for my wife (who had some very basic questions about it), and I thought I’d share it more widely in case it was useful to anyone.

Unfortunately I didn’t realise the editing job I’d done was so crappy until after I’d uploaded it – and now it seems I can’t undo the issues in the original either. So I’d need to re-record it to fix it :( That what I get for not paying attention and doing it too quickly :S
